FREE WIFI COMES TO WEST MARKET STREET IN YORK.

YORK, PA—Free wireless internet access is now available from The York Emporium used book shop on West Market Street in York.  The “WiFi hotspot” came online late last week according to Pam Lewin, owner of the curiosity shop.

“We’ve had a number of requests from customers, so it was time,” Lewin said.

The service is open node, so patrons of the shop are able to establish a high-speed wireless connection to the internet using laptops with a wireless card installed.  No special software is required.

“We have a number of customers who choose to browse the stacks and then sit in one of our reading areas,” Lewin said.  “This service has already become popular among regulars.  Along with free offstreet parking, it is one of the unique services we offer to the downtown area.”

The York Emporium is located at 343 West Market Street in downtown York.  The shop boasts of more than 250,000 books in addition to a selection of antiques, comics, militaria and records.
